Welcome to Shadows of the Force! Here you will find my Custom Lightsabers, as well as my other projects. I've always loved making things, ever since I was a kid. In 2002 I started making Lightsabers. Lately, I've moved up to armor, swords, and other things. The items contained here are custom, hand made props. I make each of these from my own designs or using inspiration from other existing designs. My prototypes (originals) are not for sale. If you would like to commission me to make a custom lightsaber for you, please refer to the About page for FAQ, contact, and other necessary information. Unfortunately, I cannot accept or fulfil any custom Lightsaber requests at this time and will be unable to do so until further notice. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
1-31-2008 3:04 AM Another update so soon? Yup. I forgot to post a page. Back around July, I built a metal armor gauntlet to wear with a costume to Comic-Con 2007. Inspired by R.A. Salvatore's character Artemis Entreri, The Right Hand of Doom has been posted to the site. Check it out! 1-28-2008 1:30 AM Oh, we've got an update. And so soon, too! A new lightsaber has been added to the site: Design XII. Yup, I finally got around to posting a page for my customized Graflex-style hilt. And I also posted a page for my custom Crystal Chambers. They look cool, they light up, so don't forget to check 'em out. I've got a handful of projects lined up for the coming weeks. I've got some commission work for my buddy in Alberta, and I plan on working on a new saber design or two for myself, along with maybe adding a new "Gear" section to the site which will cover stuff like belt clips, display stands, etc. Keep an eye out, there's some cool stuff incoming in February! 1-23-2008 11:23 PM Holy moley, I seem to be setting a record here with time between posts. o.O Back in September of 2007, I started my first semester of Web Design. Now, about five months later, I've finished my first semester in Mr. Paul Kerry's Web Design class and come back more knowledgeable than before, and with a completely redesigned third generation of Shadows of the Force! As per Mr. Kerry's suggestion, I used the renovation of SOTF for my Project 2 in Web Design and ended up developing three versions: One with frames using left-hand navigation (as with the last version of SOTF), one without frames using left-hand navigation, and one without frames that used a horizontal navigation bar just below the new banner instead of the more traditional left-hand navigation. I settled on the second one, without frames but using the left-hand nav. We've now got new navigation, with all the Designs, Replicas, and Misc. pages sorted in said categories, and now my navigation isn't scrolling off the page as it was before. You click on either Designs, Replicas, or Misc., and it opens up like an accordion with links to the pages in that category. Try clicking the three links above and watch the nav on the left. That's a pretty cool trick, huh? When I worked out my storyboards and such I knew I wanted my navigation to function as such, but I had no idea how to make it do that. Needless to say, I found a way to make my little idea work. We now have a Site Map for those of you who may get lost in the haystack of pages or maybe just want to get a feel for the new navigation. We also have an About page for anyone who wants to know more about the purpose of this website or may want to find out what to do if they want to commission a custom Hilt. I really enjoyed Mr. Kerry's Web Design class. I learned so much that I didn't know before, and I left the class with this semester's Outstanding Student Award. Oh, I'm so excited! Eventhough I've completed the class, I plan on going back in the next semester. I may not take part in the class until into the middle of the semester, but I'll hang around just in case Mr. Kerry needs any help with the class until we get to some of the lessons that we didn't have the chance to take due to the horrible fires in the San Diego area last fall and the plethora of fall school-holidays. If you live in the North San Diego County area in California and would like to learn more about Mr. Paul Kerry's Web Design class offered by Oceanside R.O.P., please visit his website at www.paulkerry.com/wd. If you would like to know more about R.O.P. or would like to know more about the classes and education opportunities offered, please visit the Oceanside R.O.P. website at http://www.rop.oside.k12.ca.us. 9-28-2007 11:30 PM Oh, it's been awhile, hasn't it? Lets get a quick recap: I managed to finish repairs and such in my shop. I had the chance to tinker around before July on various projects, including my custom Graflex-style hilt and my metal armor project. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to take and post pictures of the new stuff yet. The 2007 Comic-Con came and went. I took plenty of pictures (upwards of 100, I think). Sister and I ended up going Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and we had a blast. We came home with several bags of freebies, full-length Advanced Reading Copy novels, and lots of cool posters. Sister ended up with a very large Smallville bag from the Warner Bros booth that was almost bigger than her! It was probably 4 ft. wide x 3.5 ft. high. She slung it over her shoulder by the handles and the bottom corners of the bag drug the ground. The poor kid isn't much taller than 4 ft., herself. It was funny watching her carrying that bag around until I took over and helped her carry her stuff. The ole Freebie Queen probably ended up with more stuff than I. She loves her freebies. I am now enrolled in Computer Repair and Web Design classes, which I am very much enjoying. Both classes are great classes, however I think I'm enjoying the Web Design class more. I've learned quite a bit in the last few weeks, since the start of the class, and I'm still learning. After the last few weeks of Web Design I've noticed a plethora of design flaws in my SOTF Design Redux. Hence, in the coming weeks I'll be making some changes here and there, and a few upgrades. If you happen upon the site and find a broken link or something doesn't work, it's probably because I'm working on it and changing things around. Give it a few minutes, refresh, and things should be back in working order. I plan on changing the order of the navigation in the left pane and how it works. I've many pages, hence I've many rollover image links to those pages. I'm going to fix that with a bit of creativity. It might take me awhile to get it to work and look just right, but it'll look cool when I'm done. 4-8-2007 2:13 PM Remember in the last couple updates when I mentioned that I temporarily re-acquired a shop? Well, that temporary shop went bye-bye. Now, don't get upset, because I have a new shop! Yup, one that will be around for awhile, yet, so long as there are no acts of God or Nature to change that. o.O *crosses fingers* Seeing as how I've gotten a new shop, and some new problems with it, I've had to do some minor, yet time consuming, repairs and upgrades. The old florescent light fixtures that were in the shop from the previous owner were wired together in a series, and the wiring was quite old (they don't make them like they used to, that's for sure! Those old fixtures were upwards of 50 pounds each--I almost fell off the ladder taking the first one down! @.@). Needless to say, I took them down, replaced the wiring, and after two defective light fixtures out of three (thank you Wally World), I've got light! Yes, from light fixtures that don't go "POOF!" and blow out when I turn the light switch on (kind of like fixtures #1 and #3 did, with fixture #2 between #1 and #3, all of which were wired in parallel running down the same stretch of wiring, and #2 was untouched and still works while #1 and #3 went kaplooey--not boom, just kaplooey). No, I'm confident in my wiring skills, as is my uncle who's a retired electrical engineer. The light fixtures were defective. After I finished the electrical work, I took a breather and looked around, myself and my shop bathed in new florescent light. There was a lot of browns and bare wood showing in the shop, exposed drywall and studs, along with some old paint on the cabinets. I took it upon myself to change that. So far, I've managed to get every nook, crack, cranny, corner, and stud primed, along with all of the glorious cabinets. I never had cabinets before; I'm very enthused and excited about this. I'm also anxious to get it finished. I've some saber projects that are on hold, two in line, and some metal play that's itching to get loose. Oh yes, I plan on making an armored gauntlet and glove out sheet steel. That's going to be fun. But I can't do any of that until my shop is finished! Ahhh, it's driving me nuts ... I'm going through withdrawals. I've got two coats of white paint to apply to the drywall and cabinets, then all the built-in shelves will be painted a nice shade of blue, and then the cabinets will be pinstriped in the same shade of blue. Sounds cool to me. It's turning out as I had visualized it. Now, if I could just get it finished ... I'll leave an update when I'm done with the shop. You never know, I might just post some pictures. Maybe. Or maybe not. I'll decide on that later. Not associated with LUCASFILM LTD.
